The lead project CampusOS is supplemented by six satellite projects that strive for industry-specific solutions for 5G campus networks in the application areas of Intelligent Clinic, Disaster Relief and Fire Department, Industry, Logistics and Robotics, as well as Shipyards and Shipbuilding.
CampusOS is to play a coordinating role in this endeavor and validate the viability of the CampusOS concepts (reference architecture, building block catalogs, operator models) based on these projects.
An additional 31 partners are participating in these satellite projects that were selected through a technology competition and already started in April 2022.
The joint collaboration and coordination between the CampusOS lead project and the satellite projects is realized by working groups on the following main topics:
Already in 2020 Germany and France agreed to intensify cooperation in the field of 5G applications. In May of 2021 both countries started a call for funding for innovation projects.
The aim of the cooperation projects is to strengthen the European ecosystem for private networks in the field of 5G telecommunications with innovative solutions. The partners involved, 16 from Germany and 14 from France, will demonstrate in the projects the added value of 5G in different application scenarios.
The project „5G-OPERA“ aims to create a German-French ecosystem in the area of campus networks. Special focus will be on the development of open and/or virtualized hardware and software solutions that, in turn, are based on an open architecture. The project will support both, test environments for Industrie 4.0 in both countries as well as tests for the three cooperation projects.
